About this movie

Inspired by true events, WINCHESTER is set on an isolated stretch of land outside of San Francisco where there sits the world’s most haunted house. Seven stories tall with hundreds of rooms, the house has been under construction for decades. But heiress Sarah Winchester (Oscar® winner* Helen Mirren) is not building for herself, for her niece (Sarah Snook), or for the troubled doctor (Jason Clarke) she has summoned. She is building it as an asylum for hundreds of vengeful ghosts.

It wasn't what I expected I mean I don't hate it but I don't like it neither. I wanted to but I didn't. Only thing I enjoyed about it was that it's a new movie to watch, something I haven't yet watched. I feel like this story as movie should've and could've been made much better and scarier. Getting to visit it once with my husband at his hometown I had a much higher expectation for it. It wasn't any of that scary kind of ghost movie I was expecting but more of a pop scare. Pretty disappointed even if I don't know the whole story. Also some of the acting and scene was terrible.

I saw this in theaters expecting a lot due to the cast and historical accuracy and is this is a great example of fantastic acting, incredible set design and wardrobe with a plethora of available historical content to use WASTED on terrible direction and editing. By the end of the film, the story line was all over the place and the director failed to connect any of the dots that they had so carelessly thrown out there. It felt like whoever made this film heard about the Winchester story through a friend, googled it, read the first pop up paragraph and decided that was enough information to base a movie off of, got bored halfway through and let their interns finish it.

Very well written and taking the mythology up a notch was great. Taught a lot about letting go of the past and moving on from grief. And he knew there were so many addicts back then, damn! All in all good horror flick to see.
