About this movie

Upgrade is a thrilling and hyper violent vision of the future from the producers of Get Out and The Purge, and the creator of Saw and Insidious. After his wife is killed during a brutal mugging that also leaves him paralyzed, Grey Trace (Logan Marshall-Green, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Prometheus) is approached by a billionaire inventor with an experimental cure that will "upgrade" his body. The cure–an Artificial Intelligence implant called STEM–gives Grey physical abilities beyond anything experienced, and the ability to relentlessly claim vengeance against those who murdered his wife and left him for dead. - ( Original Title - Upgrade )

Wow they have not done a proper body horror film in a long time they got it right on this one. I can tell the director was influenced by a film called "Videodrome" but that's a good thing. Very tight well paced script. Dark humor good effects and a lot of nice twists and turns. The fight sequences are incredible I've never quite seen fight sequences like this in any film. Last but not least it has an incredible Dark synthesized 80s type score Any fan of old school classic Cronenberg films check this out you won't be disappointed.

Plays like a very violent and action-packed episode of Dark Mirror and that's not a bad thing. The ending is fairly predictable in some ways, but it doesn't cop-out and that makes the ending satisfying despite it's predictability. I wouldn't say it was as stylish as something like Blade Runner, but it's a solid movie all around.

I watched this movie as a time waster for a few free hours with the intent to do something else while it was on in the background. As it turned out, it was a pretty darn good movie to watch and I ended up a few hours in the hole. I felt that the gore was just a little excessive when used, almost as though the makers didn't expect the story line to carry the movie. I feel that the story line did carry well. Although the theme is a bit used, the plot is pretty good and I was intrigued all the way through. I only regret that I did not think it was a nachos worthy movie when it totally was. Make your nachos before the movie starts.
