About this movie

Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron star in this bold and original musical that celebrates the birth of show business and the sense of wonder we feel when dreams come to life. Inspired by the ambition and imagination of P.T. Barnum, the film is directed by exciting new filmmaker, Michael Gracey, with songs by Academy Award® Winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land).

Where did all these fake positive reviews come from. Most actual real life reviewers of movies do not leave lengthy professional sounding reviews like that. So, completely fake. Lost all respect for Hugh Jackman, who is an opportunist, desperately climbing the hollywood social ladder & more interested in making millions and getting some useless award on a boring TV awards show. Barnum was an EVIL vicious money hungry deviant and so are all animal circus employees and trainers. Hugh is a FAKE.

Not only is there little accuracy to the character of Barnum from what I understand, but the character of the circus itself is also white-washed to be a motivational number. The circus was unique and mesmerizing because it featured outcasts who were given a chance to shine (yes) but let's not pretend it looked or sounded like this in anyway cause that would be terribly boring! The majority of circus themes were waltz-y and just ONE song (about Barnum cheating on his wife not even circus related) here is in 3/4 or 6/8??! The circus was gritty and controversial like the scenes from 'Dumbo' but that is not how this film portrays it. It focuses all on the "Greatest Showman" and politicizes the story of the outcasts he supposedly liberates without really giving them much background or character development -- the songs and dance are "High School Musical" quality at best in my opinion. People needing a quick pick me up with pretty actors to look at will stand by this film, but if you are looking for substance I suggest you look elsewhere.

The songs and the story behind them are amazing. There is some romance that didn't really happen, but because they were both FAKE characters, I won't complain. I feel like Zac Efron was a good addition, but you could have at LEAST cast him as a character that EXISTS. The same thing with Zendaya. I did like how you added the most famous parts of the original show, that was a cool nod to the real PT Barnum. I wouldn't have cast Hugh tho. Not a great movie unless you only watch them for the songs.
