About this movie

An opening shot of one of those enormous, endlessly flowing, across-the-top-of-the-screen George Lucas space cruisers introduces us into the not-quite-so-serious world of director Mel Brooks' planet Spaceball, which is attempting to steal the atmosphere.

This movie is made by the undisputed parody king (by many), Mel Brooks. His humor is so spot-on and sophisticated, that his movies can be enjoyed over and over again. Truly, this movie is one of the few that doesn't get boring over time. My favorites are the virgin alarm, the sleepy prince, and the sex-obsessed president. My only critique is the part where they admit to being in a movie, which kills it for me a bit.

I did laugh but not nearly as many times as the first time I saw it about 15 years ago when I was a child. Starting to show it's age. Perfect example of humour not being forever. The merchandise joke was the best part. After the dessert its downhill. Still worth a look. The Internet has made funny stuff so easy to find. I guess I just need to be pounded with jokes constantly ori get a little bored. The movie seemed to drag in parts. its not as good as I remembered it. Shame but its still OK.

The really funny parts are when the fourth wall is destroyed, which really only happens when the Spaceballs are around. I actually found myself wanting the villains to come back on screen whenever Lone Star and Barf were on camera, otherwise the movie is actually dull. But I still think it's worth the price for the Spaceballs alone.
