About this movie

Parker (Jason Statham) is a professional thief who lives by a personal code of ethics: Don't steal from people who can't afford it and don't hurt people who don't deserve it. But on his latest heist, his crew double crosses him, steals his stash, and leaves him for dead. Determined to make sure they regret it, Parker tracks them to Palm Beach, playground of the rich and famous, where the crew is planning their biggest heist ever. Donning the disguise of a rich Texan, Parker takes on an unlikely partner, Leslie (Jennifer Lopez), a savvy insider, who's short on cash, but big on looks, smarts and ambition. Together, they devise a plan to hijack the score, take everyone down and get away clean. Also starring Michael Chiklis. 2013 Incentive Film Productions, LLC. All Rights Reserved.

First of all, I’m a realist. No new territory with this movie, nor am I a huge J-Lo fan, however being a fan of the books I can say this: This character was a character Statham was born for, and this was a decent adaption. In addition, I wouldn’t mind seeing a sequel to this. Moreover, I like movies where people get retribution - and Statham he’s his justice in this one...

This movie goes fast at first so it’s hard to put together mentally, but soon slows down and takes shape. I really enjoyed it. Jason Statham pulls off a Texas accent pretty well! And Jennifer Lopez adds just enough beauty, saavy, cleverness, along with true-as-can-be female manic moments that are comical, to balance out the violence. Overall enjoyed the movie.

This isn't the first run at this material and while Mel Gibson's take holds a special place for me (masochist Lucy Liu is delicious), this version feels truer to the genera itself. Well worth a watch with Statham as his customary criminal with a conscience and J Lo as a reasonably hot sidekick (though there never is any real chemistry).
