About this movie

Stupid is as stupid does, says Forrest Gump (played by Tom Hanks in an Oscar-winning performance) as he discusses his relative level of intelligence with a stranger while waiting for a bus. Despite his sub-normal IQ, Gump leads a truly charmed life, with a ringside seat for many of the most memorable events of the second half of the 20th century. Entirely without trying, Forrest teaches Elvis Presley to dance, becomes a football star, meets John F. Kennedy, serves with honor in Vietnam, meets Lyndon Johnson, speaks at an anti-war rally at the Washington Monument, hangs out with the Yippies, defeats the Chinese national team in table tennis, meets Richard Nixon, discovers the break-in at the Watergate, opens a profitable shrimping business, becomes an original investor in Apple Computers, and decides to run back and forth across the country for several years. Meanwhile, as the remarkable parade of his life goes by, Forrest never forgets Jenny (Robin Wright Penn), the girl he loved as a boy, who makes her own journey through the turbulence of the 1960s and 1970s that is far more troubled than the path Forrest happens upon. Featured alongside Tom Hanks are Sally Field as Forrest's mother; Gary Sinise as his commanding officer in Vietnam; Mykelti Williamson as his ill-fated Army buddy who is familiar with every recipe that involves shrimp; and the special effects artists whose digital magic place Forrest amidst a remarkable array of historical events and people.

This movie is a must see. Its comedy and narrative arouse emotions with the audience of laughter and tears. The director Robert Zemeckis uses actor Tom Hanks to deliver an Oscar winning performance. This is a film that will transcend the generations as a classic. The events depicted in this film connect with all walks of life and add a bit of laughter to compensate for the empathy of the character of Forrest Gump. The film was created with a twist of realism exaggerated to cause humor. If anyone has not seen this film, please invest your time to watch this film. Truly an iconic film is Forrest Gump.

The GO TO movie to explain what a 4 star (out of 4 stars) movie is.. I like action and comedy the most with many other movies in a wide range but I've never seen a better movie, one more american, or much better performance than Tom hanks in this movie. If you've never seen it somehow watch it before you hear too much about it and enjoy one of the best movies ever made.

It's a movie about family, friendship, & life/real life/human life (particularly the life about someone who is unique: a legend with low IQ named "Forrest Gump"). Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors of all time & every single one of his performances in this film is phenominal. The character "forrest gump is a very relatable character. Robert Zemeckis (the director of "Back to the future", "Polar Express", & "Christmas Carol 2009") directed this movie & he knows how to make a movie so powerful & knows what type of audience he is going for. He knows how to make it realistic & authentic, even though it's not based on actual events. It feels real! Everyone person in the cast here is excellent! For Forrest's point of view, somthing simple can turn it into somthing big, like the tasks & what the people are saying to him. The dialogue consist's one of the most memorable & most powerful quotes ever, even every part of the dialogue is excellent. The story is all wraped up into this memorable quote: "Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get." This movie is sentimetal, inspiring, feel-good, epic, & emotional. This film earns my highest recommendation!
