About this movie

Gloria (Anne Hathaway) is an out-of-work party girl who, after getting kicked out of her apartment by her boyfriend (Dan Stevens), is forced to leave her life in New York and move back to her hometown where she's reunited with her childhood friend (Jason Sudeikis). When news reports surface that a giant creature is destroying Seoul, South Korea, Gloria gradually comes to the realization that she is somehow connected to this far-off phenomenon. As events begin to spin out of control, Gloria must determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world. Experience the wildly original film critics are calling, "a great deal of fun" (New York Times). - ( Original Title - Colossal )

I am giving it 2 stars, mostly because of the star lineup...big fan of Hathaway, Stevens and Sudeikis. But as far as the story itself? Not impressed. It's just too bizarre for me ~ I like feeling like my two hours was not a waste of time, that all threads are neatly tied when I close my screen, but this movie did not do that for me. Am I supposed to buy into the premise that this character's unhappy childhood results in such tragedy and chaos halfway around the world here? What is the point? What does SKorea have to do with Oscar's pathetic little life? Why there? Why not closer to home, where it all started for him? I'm sorry, but this movie left me feeling as unsatisfied as Tim, as wasted as Gloria. I'm glad I only spent the 99c rental fee, rather than the $5 to buy it, because I really don't think I would watch this one ever again.

This movie was mostly a waste of time. I spent the first half being annoyed by Anne Hathaway's character and the heavy amount of obnoxious dialogue she was given to spout, and then the middle 15 minutes being entertained and thinking "Things are starting to look up! This movie is kind of funny!" and then the last half of the movie being confused and thinking I must have blacked out for a half hour because the story suddenly jumps into something totally disjointed from the rest of the story up to that point. It's really unclear in the end what point the movie is trying to get across because there are multiple themes competing with each other, and no single theme gets really developed. It was mildly entertaining for brief periods, so here's 2 stars. Would not recommend unless you're a huge Anne Hathaway or Jason Sudeikis fan who believes they can do no wrong. Princess Diaries is a better movie.

This movie has such a unique idea and literally throws it to the side you think this movie has some potential bit then its like they gave up on the plot and threw some random bad guy that was totally unnecessary it literally was just trying to fill in screen time at this point. There are so many plot holes and zero buildups of any characters except you know that the main character is an alcoholic who gets kicked nothing else is explained. Definitely not worth watching, dont waste your money or time on this.
