About this movie

Inventor Flint Lockwood's genius is finally being recognized as he's invited by his idol Chester V to join The Live Corp Company, where the best and brightest inventors in the world create technologies for the betterment of mankind. Chester's right-hand-gal - and one of his greatest inventions - is Barb (a highly evolved orangutan with a human brain, who is also devious, manipulative and likes to wear lipstick. It's always been Flint's dream to be recognized as a great inventor, but everything changes when he discovers that his most infamous machine (which turns water into food) is still operating and is now creating food-animal hybrids -- "foodimals!" With the fate of humanity in his hands, Chester sends Flint and his friends on a dangerously delicious mission, battling hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, apple pie-thons, double bacon cheespiders and other food creatures to save the world again!

Whatever this movie's flaws, I can't help but feel like they get overridden by the sheer unadulterated fun and joy the movie-makers injected into their fictional world. Many of the puns make me smile, or even laugh, every single time (the leek jokes, in particular, get me, and yes, I'm a dad). The silliness and humor make for a really enjoyable experience for kids, with such a colorful, wild world, with colorful, wild characters. Underneath, for the adults, I found it to be a really interesting critique of the massive tech firms, and how the veneer of a love of science and invention actually covers a corporate world that simply exploits the real inventors in the name of small iterations to popular products.

Its clear SONY PICTURES ANIMATION™ rode the name of Cloudy W/A Chance of Meatballs success to fool and hype the consumers with its sequel. Well... not me. Intro had reclips from the 1st to buy time length for the film. Character Development was horrible! Voiceovers replaced. Story Plot unobvious. Recycled characters from the 1st, had no point being in the movie as they barely talked. No consistency with plot, sped up intro, char dev. uncared for. (Summary) Don't buy, rent, or pirate it. Its that bad...

It doesn't look too interesting, and the plot is not exciting enough. It's sort of obvious in a way, like "Of course the machine made food/animal hybrids." I think SONY should have spent a couple more months on the film.
