One of the best musical film adaptions i have ever seen. For most of the musical numbers it cuts back and forth to what's actually happening and to the song and dance version of what's happening, and this is because of how Roxie--the protagonist--is imagining it all. She's so obsessed with becoming a singer-dancer sensation that she sees everything in big, flashy musical numbers. The cinematography is magnificent, the singers are AMAZING. They picked actual theatre actresses so it's just a wicked fun time.

Very fun, fast, and entertaining movie treatment of a very fun, fast, and entertaining musical. The actors/singers do a great job of putting on their musical hats, and the use of edits makes for a startling jaunt into "theatre-on-screen." A somewhat strange pick for the Best Picture Oscar it won, it nevertheless holds up as a great translation of a great Broadway hit.

The Absolute Best Musical Movie of Our Generation!!! Catherine Zeta-Jones dominates the role of Sexy... Beautiful... and Angry Velma. Her Dancing is mind boggling, technical and fast paced. Her singing is emotional and forceful and totally sells she "IS" the character ( Her every muscle must have been screaming). Richard Gere showed he's much more talented then we EVER Knew as "Billy" the Lawyer. (I need a blog to break all to the Stars down even). Queen Lattifa Rules as "Mama" Period
