Miriam Kurtzig Freedman is an attorney, author, expert, and education reformer. She has written six books on law and education and has contributed to the Wall Street Journal, Education Week, Education Next, Hoover Digest, University of Chicago Law Review online, Diane Ravitch's Blog, and Atlantic Monthly online. Her book Fixing Special Education: 12 Steps to Transform a Broken System inspired reform. Freedman combined her passion for law and education as a lawyer representing Massachusetts public schools. Before that, she was a statewide hearing officer and public school teacher. Freedman received her bachelor's from Barnard College, her master's from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and her law degree from New York University.
