Janice Mirikitani

Award-winning poet, dancer, activist, and educator, Janice Mirikitani was San Francisco's second poet laureate and is the founding president of the Glide Foundation. Her collections of poetry are Awake in the River (1978), Shedding Silence (1987), We, the Dangerous: New and Selected Poems (1995), Love Works (2001), and Out of the Dust: New and Selected Poems (2014). She is also the editor of several anthologies, including Third World Women (1972), Time to Greez! Incantations from the Third World (1975), and Ayumni: A Japanese American Anthology (1980). In 2013, Mirikitani co-authored the book Beyond the Possible: 50 Years of Creating Radical Change in a Community Called Glide with her husband, Reverend Cecil Williams.
