Horace Walpole

Horace Walpole (1717–1797) was an English writer, art historian, and politician who is best remembered for his novel ‘The Castle of Otranto’, considered one of the pioneering works of gothic fiction. As a prominent figure of the eighteenth-century literary scene, Walpole's literary pursuits were deeply influenced by his interest in medievalism, architecture, and the supernatural.
