Bankers have a difficult job to do but it's not supposed to be exciting. Being chased across the galaxy is only one of many hazards for Stross's financial investigator. The perils of the home office pale against pirates, zombies, atomic volcanoes, and a collective of giant squid. But with the headlines we see today on Earth, none of it seems out of the question. The six-breasted talking womb might be a bit much for some. Did I mention zombies?

But it stops rather abruptly, with a much needed wrap-up never happening.

An exciting space opera that obeys the laws of physics with an economics treatise enmeshed within.

Charles Stross, born in 1964, is a full-time science fiction writer and resident of Edinburgh, Scotland. The author of six Hugo-nominated novels and winner of the 2005 Hugo Award for best novella (“The Concrete Jungle”), Stross has had his work translated into more than twelve languages. He has worked as a pharmacist, software developer, and tech-industry journalist.
