This has to be... So far of 2021 my favourite storyline ever!!! My god- "The Happy Family" had so many emotions running through it I really felt for Beth, I felt it when she was happy and content, and I really felt it when her life started to go a bit pear shaped!!. This was really well written, and the suspense of the whole book had me reading it in under 24hrs! I loved that it was set in Cheltenham, with mentions to Bristol & South Gloucestershire (My home town!.) All the characters were really likable and everything was really well explained, no ends left untied with thoughts you may of had as a reader throughout. I did guess early on though,-I just felt it in me that the ending was who I thought it would be and it made me cry when the DNA proved it, I couldn't of been more happier. The storyline also focuses on a fundamental serious issue. I think it was a great thing to add to the book to bring to light the true seriousness of our actions and the consequences of those actions- not only how they can stay with us forever, but the consequences they can make to others lives past or present. I REALLLLLY enjoyed Jackie Kabler's 'The Happy Family" it's a definite must read and I would recommend to anyone that loves a good gripping, suspenseful thriller, that holds you on edge throughout, yet brings you all the emotions at the same time! 5+++++ stars from me!! 👏👏👏👏

Imagine being reunited with your mother after having her disappear when you were still just a little kid. Imagine having her back after not having her throughout your teenage years, when you needed her the most. Imagine now that you have her back, you have everything you could ever want or need. But, sometimes things are not what they seem to be. You can’t imagine where this story will take you… Jackie Kabler has crafted a story that captures you attention right from the get go. She has a real gift of vivid character creation and creating an intriguing storyline. I loved how she uses the relationships between the characters to drive this story as opposed to events alone. The relationships are almost a means to an end, and in the end, are used to create a thrilling reveal that will catch you off guard. The Happy Family is a twisty story, written in a style that is fresh and captivating. It is a fast paced and snappy read that doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. Jackie Kabler is such a valuable asset to the psychological thriller genre and I look forward to reading what she comes up with for us next.

This was a slowly unfolding, busy, and multi-layered tale that kept me tethered to my Kindle, although I was conflicted with the main character throughout as I found her to be annoying and rather witless. Maybe because I was a mercilessly bullied youth myself, so I had a heaping helping of antagonism toward her for being such a horrid and vicious little madam as a pubescent young teen, and then a somewhat erratic and anxious adult. Yet this infuriatingly crafty author had me ensnared and I remained edgy and curiously vexed and aggravated as I nibbling on my cuticles while reading. Jackie Kabler is a wily one. I couldn't seem to read fast enough.
