About this ebook

Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning masterwork of honor and injustice in the deep South—and the heroism of one man in the face of blind and violent hatred.

One of the most cherished stories of all time, To Kill a Mockingbird has been translated into more than forty languages, sold more than forty million copies worldwide, served as the basis for an enormously popular motion picture, and was voted one of the best novels of the twentieth century by librarians across the country. A gripping, heart-wrenching, and wholly remarkable tale of coming-of-age in a South poisoned by virulent prejudice, it views a world of great beauty and savage inequities through the eyes of a young girl, as her father—a crusading local lawyer—risks everything to defend a black man unjustly accused of a terrible crime.

I vividly remember being assigned this book to read, during my English 11R class in high school. Even at that age I was touched by how well written this book was. It basically transported myself to the late 1920's- the mid 1930's & allowed me to really feel the times, described in this (excuse my praise) but Literary Masterpiece! Harper Lee gets into your mind (if you are an avid reader) & makes you feel sympathy for a time long gone in American history & EVERYONE needs to read this so that the new generations DON'T forget what our country once was...

...in the pages of this book. Though times have changed since its release, you still can't go wrong following the "what is popular is not always right; what is right is not always popular" example of Atticus Finch.Profoundly insightful & remarkably decent, he is, IMO, the best character ever written. I often quote him in speeches so my 60¢ paperback from 1963 has been thumbed through & read so frequently that the brittle, yellowed pages have separated from the spine. My absolute favorite book/character.

Absolutely loved it. Thank-you, Harper Lee. May you rest well, knowing what a wonderful gift you have shared with the world. I look forward to reading your next book. In love and peace. this story signifies that she did whatever it takes to overcome her obstacles. obviously this book signifies that she went through horrible things and her bravery made this the moral of the story by doing whatever it takes to overcome her fear and fight for whats right for her.
