About this ebook

Get ready for the darker and dirtier side of New Orleans with an alpha romance from New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Meghan March.

New Orleans belongs to me.

You don’t know my name, but I control everything you see—and all the things you don’t.

My reach knows no bounds, and my demands are always met.

I didn’t need to loan money to a failing family distillery, but it amuses me to have them in my debt.

To have her in my debt.

She doesn’t know she caught my attention.

She should’ve been more careful.

I’m going to own her. Consume her. Maybe even keep her.

It’s time to collect what I’m owed.

Keira Kilgore, you’re now the property of Lachlan Mount.

Ruthless King is book one of the Mount Trilogy. All books are available now.

This is one of my favorite series. I've read the 4 books more then once. She's a great writer. It's hard to find a new author. But she's became one of my favorites. I read christen Feehan, shalya black and more. You will find a book you love from her.

This was a pretty good start to the trilogy. The characters definitely have some amazing chemistry and are super hot together. There is a lot of repetition in their squabbles, but it all builds up into some pretty explosive moments together. Everything else seems to be extra, but we’ll see as the story develops.

In the short time since her husband, and his mistress lost their lives in a car accident, Keira Kilgore has spent her time focused on building up her family's business. Getting the books in order, setting a plan in place for future growth, and stabilizing their precarious situation with the banks. What she didn't know, was that her late husband left behind a debt that would never show up on the books, much as the name of the person to whom that debt was owed would likewise never show up. Lachlan Mount, so much more than an underworld kingpin, is the man who owns not just half of the property in New Orleans, but more importantly, through various means, owns the allegiance of virtually all of the city's underworld, and no small number of “upstanding” citizens. A man who lives in shadows. A name that people who know it fear to whisper. And now, in lieu of a payment he knows she couldn't possibly make, he's decided to own her. As an admitted Meghan March fan, I've been looking forward to this book for some time. Not simply because it's been written by Meghan, but perhaps even more so because of how she's spoken about the book as she was writing it. How consumed she was with the characters and the story. How her entire writing process, a formula that's been quite successful to date, changed as the task of getting these characters and their story took over her life. Now that I've read it, I totally get that. Almost every one of Meghan's heroes to date have been strong alpha males who had a purity of spirit hiding beneath a rough and sometimes broken exterior. Not so with Mount. He genuinely is what his reputation would have you believe. Cold, callous, calculating, ruthless. All the nasty with no discernible redeeming qualities. Keira, on the other hand is perhaps more than his calculations allowed for. Proud, confident, loyal, determined, and with the kind of stubborn streak that comes from already having been broken, embarrassed and humiliated. The combination of the two provides for no small amount of conflict and tension, as Keira bends, but refuses to break, despite her unwanted physical attraction to the man who holds all the cards, and despite the very real danger that a man of his nature has no need to threaten. Still there's something there. Something between them hints at fissures in his facade, and a recognition on her part of something incredibly right amid everything so terribly wrong. As revelations keep turning the narrative in different directions, what struck me most was that the intensity of this book. The sizzling attraction undercut by coercion and threats, the hints of nobility that are almost completely obscured by the seedy underhandedness of Mount's entire world, the sense of anticipation that built from the very first page and surely didn't end with the last. A gripping, thrilling ride that had me breathless, and left me thankful that there's only a few short weeks before the story continues.
