About this ebook

The definitive account of the most famous music festival of all time: Woodstock.

“[A] vivid and lively account of those hectic and historic three days….The best fly-on-the-wall account, tantamount to having had a backstage pass to an iconic event.”
New York Post

The Woodstock music festival of 1969 is an American cultural touchstone, and no book captures the sights, sounds, and behind-the-scenes machinations of the historic gathering better than Michael Lang’s New York Times bestseller, The Road to Woodstock. USA Today calls this fascinating, entertaining, and blissfully nostalgic look back, “Invaluable.” In The Road to Woodstock, Michael Lang recaptures the magic for the generation that was there…and for the generations that followed.

Just in time for the 50th Anniversary of the Woodstock festival, this definitive volume tells you everything you need to know about the most famous three days in music history.

I chose to watch Woodstock while starting my exercise program again. As I watched this time (I have seen it at least 10 times), it hit me like a bolt of lightning the immense preparation it must have taken to organize this event! I became obsessed with finding literature that would document that effort. What better source than the modest, easy going young fellow that was so hounded by reporters trying to goad him into a "woe as me" response. Bingo! I found the perfect history in this book -The Road to Woodstock - by Michael Lang (that modest young fellow!). Here is a recollection of the details and struggles of pulling off what will go down in history as one of the major events of human history!! The story is amazing and the read is engaging. I came away fully satisfied I had the complete story yet sad at the travails of Michael and the team who accomplished this. Knowing where many of the characters are now and seeing a complete list of the musicians and music played was an added bonus. Thanks, Michael, for sharing.
