About the author

Pearl Zane Grey (1872 - 1939) was an American author and dentist best known for his popular adventure novels and stories associated with the Western genre in literature and the arts. Willa Sibert Cather (December 7, 1873 – April 24, 1947) was an American writer who achieved recognition for her novels of frontier life on the Great Plains. Owen Wister (July 14, 1860 – July 21, 1938) was an American writer and historian, considered the "father" of western fiction. He is best remembered for writing The Virginian and a biography of Ulysses S. Grant. Andy Adams (1859–1935) was one of the few writers of the West who had a knowledge based on experience that enabled him to record cowboy life authentically. Clarence Edward Mulford (3 February 1883 – 10 May 1956) was the creator of the character Hopalong Cassidy.
