Just bought this book a couple of days ago. I'm using it as an entrance into robotics / IOT. I haven't started building anything yet, but I read through the book and it looks excellent. I'm looking forward to testing the design and code. I appreciate the way the book makes very few assumptions about the reader's skill level. Robotics and IOT are wide ranging fields, so it's unlikely a beginner would have high degrees of skill in more than one or two subdomains. I was also especially impressed with the array of sensors included in this book. Granted that an operational rover of this kind wouldn't need several of the included sensors, their inclusion in a text of this nature was an excellent decision, as they lead the reader in directions he or she might not otherwise explore. Overall, kudos. Well done!

Wolfram Donat is a graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage, with a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering. Along with an interest in robotics, computer vision, and embedded systems, his general technological interests and Internet expertise serve to make him an extremely eclectic programmer. He specializes in C and C++, with additional skills in Java, Python, and C#/.NET. He is the author of several books and has received funding from NASA for his work in autonomous submersibles.
