Ratings and reviews

You can read this book in under a day. How? Just skip the numerously intolerable nostalgia flashbacks the protagonist experiences. I mean, this guy can't pass by a signpost or a national park or watch people sledding without feeling "a wave of nostalgia" wash over him. What a maudlin mope. Gets very tiresome after a while and you'll find yourself just glazing over the passages until you get back to the story.

Really enjoyed the series, especially the first two books, and this one was good as well, but there were more political overtones than the predecessors.

Excellent. Book 2 wasn't great but this one really wrapped things up nicely, had its fair share of twists and was definitely a page Turner. Great read.

He holds a Ph.D. in history from Purdue University, with specializations in military history and the history of technology. Forstchen is currently a faculty fellow and professor of history at Montreat College, near Asheville, North Carolina.
