About this ebook

Above Naples, Vesuvius is heating up once again . . . An absolutely gripping thriller from the author of The Sacred Spoils and The Alexander Cipher.

Archaeologist Carmen Nero and former conman Cesco Rossi are in Herculaneum on the trail of the lost texts of Ancient Rome, possibly stored deep underground in the Villa of the Papyri.

But when there is a terrible murder, they realize that powerful forces are interested in the excavations of the villa which threaten the foundations of the Church. With neo-Nazis on Rossi’s tail and a traitor in their midst, everything hangs in the balance.

As the great volcano rumbles, they are in a race against time: to find the killer, uncover the truth behind the lost manuscripts, and to save themselves from complete destruction . . .

The next scintillating instalment in the Rossi & Nero thriller series, perfect for fans of Chris Kuzneski, Dan Brown and Scott Mariani.

Praise for Will Adams’ The Alexander Cipher

“A razor-edged thriller that delves deeply into crumbling tombs and ancient secrets. Explosively paced and tautly told.” —James Rollins, #1 New York Times–bestselling author

“A resourceful and appealing hero, and . . . the action crackles along with betrayals, vendettas, and revelations galore.” —Daily Mail

“The author does an excellent job of keeping the story moving at a brisk clip while giving us all the historical background we require to understand what all the fuss is about . . . smartly constructed twists. Surprisingly, considering its high quality, this is Adams’ first novel.” —Booklist (starred review)

action-adventure, thriller, Italian-customs, Italy, historical-places-events, historical-research, archaeology, the-mob, noir, suspense***** What happens when you mix Indiana Jones, Commissario Brunetti, Don Corleone, The Naked Archaeologist, and Josephus? A book with Vesuvius threatening the modern town of Herculaneum and a cruel sadistic murdered who wants to claim and sell an early Christian codex recently discovered by an archaeological consortium. As if that isn't enough, the first murder is a man who is bound and gagged in his Lamborghini which is then detonated in front of coworkers who are helpless to act. Add in old church intrigue and interesting intertwined characters to make this a suspenseful thriller! I did have to do a little comparison reading on some historical tidbits, but I really enjoyed this one. I requested and received a free ebook copy from Canelo via NetGalley. Thank you!
