About the author

Daniel Gordon (Ph.D., University of Chicago) is a professor of history at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and has also taught at Harvard University and Stanford University. His publications, including the book Citizens without Sovereignty and the edited volume Postmodernism and the Enlightenment, deal with the Enlightenment and the history of Enlightenment scholarship.
