I really enjoyed this story. I don't typically read historical romance, but Violetta Rand's story was a wonderful change. I found her characters easy to relate to and the story engaging. So much so, that I read the entire book in a single sitting. (That included staying up past my bedtime to see how it ended.) Errol is a Man's Man, but deep down he worries he will never live up to his father's expectations. So instead, he goes to the opposite extreme. That being said, he is a loyal and fiercely protective of anything he considers his. Once he figures out what he wants, he goes after body and soul, including living up to his father's expectations. Aileana is also an interesting character. In a time when women were property and treated as chattel, she also had to overcome the suspicions of being a foundling or spy, considering her coloring. Add into that her beauty, both inner and outer, it is no wonder she had to flee unwanted attention and had no self confidence. It was fun to watch her come into her own and find the strength to be who she was meant to be. This was a fun story that I really enjoyed.

But can lust blossom into love and the H/H find their HEA? I absolutely loved "My Highland Rogue" and am impatiently waiting for the next installment. It makes my heart soar to have found another amazing Scottish storyteller. I highly recommend this book. This tale is historically awesome. I love how Rand develops the time period in question. It was an unforgettable expense and the perfect balance between fiction and reality. Rand has created a novella that was sweet and hot at the same time. I love the ebb and flow of the dialogue. It's natural and easy to follow without being of this time. This is the type of story that leaves you smiling and sets you daydreaming, even amidst the chaos. I can't comment much on the characters in this tale without giving away too much of the plot. It was comical when these two finally got together. I love how history and the plot came together in a fantastic and heartwarming moment. I will say that they were captivating and the type of characters that I truly wanted to get to know. Rand’s character development definitely does them justice. This novel is a fantastic mix between history and romance. It's a must read for anyone who enjoys the genre.
