About this ebook

Born into affluence, Mia Stanley is a winsome socialite with a knack for matchmaking. She's also a writer for Godey's Lady's Book magazine, much to the disdain of her family--and their society friends. A proper young lady of her social standing isn't meant to labor in such a way, but Mia has always had a way with words...

When her writing draws her into the world of downtrodden seamen's wives on Philadelphia's docks, Mia uncovers a scheme that puts her in harm's way. But her heart ends up on the line as well...Has her determination to always make a match driven away the one man whose esteem she covets?

Characters and situations not well developed. Makes the book hurried and shallow. Starts with an introduction to Mia being a matchmaker, and then instantly changes to focus soley on her work as a writer. Two pages later she suddenly quits her writing. Also, marching to the seedy part of town alone, to yell and threaten a rapist= stupidity in any era. Blames Garrett's frustrations with her stupid decisions, on being a woman as if she is being discriminated against and has to fight for freedom. Annoying

This was fun read. A little fun, a little danger, a little propriety, a little religion. Not too much of any, and I enjoyed it. However, I did feel a bit played like a fish on the line, waiting! So close and then nothing. The characters were well fleshed out,. Complete. I look forward to the next book.

This story was action from beginning to end. Also, this story had a lot of advice about how to live for the Lord. I know this was set in a different time period, but the things of God remains the same, unchanging forever.
