About this ebook

To escape a brutal killer, a brilliant researcher teams up with a tortured soldier who poses an even greater threat . . . to her heart.

Her sister might be the law and her brothers the brawn, but Riley Kingston is definitely the brains of the family. She’s a talented botanist well on her way to a PhD—so why does she feel like a failure? Fired from a dream project in Costa Rica, Riley’s stuck back in her hometown. Cataloguing plants on Steele land keeps her busy, but it’s far from compelling work. Until she discovers a fascinating new specimen. One with a body made for pleasure . . . and eyes filled with a pain she longs to understand.

Delta Force operator Coen Monroe doesn’t want to be studied. Not even by the sexy scientist whose inquisitive glances stir up desires he isn’t ready to handle. He came to Steele Ridge to be alone, to battle his nightmares and the memories triggering them. But Riley’s gentle seduction is as relentless as her curiosity. She soothes his wounded soul . . . and fires up his defensive instincts. But when her research sparks a deadly conspiracy, Coen is exactly what she needs.

When Riley is targeted by a sociopath bent on silencing her forever, Coen will do anything to protect her. But can he save the woman he loves without losing himself in the process?

Really, REALLY good!! I love this series and with each book the stories just keep getting better. Riley, the girl whose mind never stops running and Coen, a man who is tortured by his previous mission were soooo perfect for each other. This is a exciting, sweet & sexy and a perfect “opposites attract” story. I didn’t want to end and I hope we hear more about Riley and Coen in future books!

4.5 Stars First off I really love these books that take place in Steele Ridge. This was no different. It was hard to put down. The suspense in this one had me on the edge of my seat and gasping at the twists. Not gonna lie a few times I had to stop reading because a few parts were hard to get through. The emotion in this book just poured off the pages. Between Riley and Coen my heart took some beating. Never fear there was plenty of humor and heart that packed a punch as well. This book is so well written from beginning to end. It's definitely a book you hate to see end. I'm so looking forward to more in this series. If you haven't read any of the books in Steele Ridge I highly recommend you remedy that because you're missing out on some awesome reads!

The main characters were well thought out but the actions of the Delta Force Operative were all over the place. And although Reilly was said to be smart, the actions of not relaying important information made her seem a hit dimwitted. Is she knew she was in trouble in one sentence, why have Reilly question herself in the next sentence.

About the author

USA Today bestselling author Tracey Devlyn writes contemporary and historical romantic suspense. Tracey wanted to be the next Dian Fossey and explore the wilds of Africa, but that was before she met chemistry and calculus. With an enthusiasm for research that translates into creative (and disturbing) plot twists for her characters to navigate, it’s no surprise that her suspense-laden stories excite her readers and offer a glimpse of the nefarious nature lurking behind her sweet smile. Despite the thrilling, emotional ride Tracey gives her readers, she enjoys an annoyingly normal lifestyle with her husband and rescue dogs at her suburban home outside Chicago.
