Very readable, if broad and basic. The geopolitics is generally great, but there is too much sidetracking into shallow analysis of modern political conflict, with a very obvious American lens. Should have been more focused on maps considering the name of the book.

A must-read for anyone wanting to understand the current war in Ukraine, and global politics in general. Very well written. It is interesting, easy to follow and informative.

Loved the richness of thought and writing. Doesn't hurt that the author has a wickedly delightful sense of humour too
