i have been swimming long distance for years, self taught and love the water open sea or pool. I had the good luck to meet 2 guys-experienced swimmers, in the pool both of gave me tips. One of them suggested I read this book and it has totally changed my relationship with the water and with my ease and balance in the water. I have been putting the basic principles into practice and though it has been a challenge to my swim muscle memory to change to a new way of bring and moving with and thro the water, I can see and feel the difference.
I practice Qi Gong and total immersion is like doing qi gong while swimming, Love it.
