He's dying. She's defiant. Can love rewrite their fate?

Marlis has a sixth sense for danger, a keen aim with her pistol... and a dream-crushing brain injury. Disqualified from the military, she signs up as a guard on an alien spaceship alongside a towering, bearded alien who has her thinking about polishing more than just the barrel of her gun…

Noatak, grappling with the scars of his past, faces a grim reality: his ionic powers are waning, and the ship's doctor has given him a death sentence within a standard cycle. When Marlis, a captivating and determined soldier, joins the crew, she ignites a forbidden longing in him. But succumbing to this desire would come with a fatal cost — taking a mate means certain death.

As their connection deepens, they are drawn into a vortex of passion and peril, thrown toward a precipice from which there’s no return. Will surrendering to their hearts mean the end of their journey, or the beginning of a new destiny?

I want an AI like Twerp...She's just awesome! Oh my heavens. If there were a way for me to adopt a hot, copper skinned, heartbreakingly sweet alien man, I would totally pick Noatak. Seriously, my poor heart just adores him. Alright, gushing done, now down to business. This review will catch you up and has no real spoilers. Noatak is book three in Tamsin Ley's Galactic Pirate Brides series which chronicles the journey of a group of alien men called Denaidans and their quest to save their race from extinction. They have a very specific set of bodily functions that prevents them from being able to take mates outside of their species, and their planet, along with all their females, was destroyed by an evil corporation that essentially runs the universe. This series follows two 'pirate' ships and their crews in the search for a cure as well as vengeance on those who almost killed off their entire race. So far, we've followed the two captains who have both found mates with the help of 'nanites' (tiny electronic machines that can enhance a body, or destroy it). Noatak is the first mate of the Kinship under captain Qaiyaan and has thus far proven loyal and good natured. He also has some medical issues we didn't know about that have him playing reckless. At this point in the story, they are trying to find women who will be hosts for these nanites and potentially become mates for the Denaidans. The recruiting falls to Noatak and Joy (Kashatok's mate) which leads them to find Marlis and Emmy. Marlis is the daughter of a general in the very corporation who the Resistance is fighting against. She has memory issues due to a horrific incident as a child, but is kickass with weapons. She has a small wrist bound AI that assists her who she named Twerp. Hands down, Twerp is one of my favorite characters thus far. Mrs. Ley has a habit of making her side characters absolutely adorable and they often steal the show for a scene. Noatak and Marlis embark on their journey with a bang and it leads on from there. Their story has some extremely heart-wrenching moments both of the sorrow-filled and of the joyous persuasions. We learn a lot in this installment and it has me looking forward to the next book with great impatience! This book can be read alone, but you will miss out on so much if you don't read the series in order. Give them a shot and I am more than sure these big copper skinned aliens will find a place in your heart.

Third in the series, but a standalone. You'll meet the characters from the previous books but you don't NEED them to read this (you'll miss a couple of great stories though..). Marlis is a great heroine. She's had a brain injury and isn't able to remember things. She also has anger issues. She won't be allowed to stay on the station she's been living on so she goes in search of a security job. She finds a job and Noatak. They have an instant spark but Noatak is sick enough to not be able to take a mate. She also finds herself on a pirate crew and starts remembering her past. They'll have an adventure as they continue to fight to save the world and themselves. Too much fun! Add in an AI with personality and brooding aliens and this is a story you don't want to miss. Marlis is terrific and Noatak is only trying to take care of her but she's not having it. I liked the characters, I liked the story and I'm enjoying the Galactic Pirate Brides series a lot. Looking forward to the next book in the series. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).

Noatak was introduced in the first book "Rescued By Qaiyaan". He was "second in command", gruff, and suspicious but is loyal and has a heart of gold once he trusts you, so I looked forward to read this book about him. Tamsin did not disappoint me, this is another great book in this series with our Space Pirates. In this Noatak who has his own ship and crew falls in love with Marlis who is ill and agrees to be a test subject for the nanites but the bad guys - Syndicorp make it a bumpy road to happiness. Again the crew introduced in this book especially Twerp was adorable. There's action, romance, drama and hunky aliens to fall in love with for future books. I volunteer to read and review this ARC
