About this ebook

"If you love tales of mermaids and handsome men this one will steal your heart." ~ FIVE STARS

Mermaids can't fall in love, but when Ebby discovers a coven of mermaids torturing a handsome human, she's determined to set him free. Cruz is strong, clever, and immune to the other mermaids' song. He makes her heart race and her body ache. He makes her desire the one thing she's sworn never to have - a mate.

Helped by her adorable pet mantis shrimp, Kato, they plan a daring escape. But with violent mermaids and deadly sea creatures in pursuit, a happily-ever-after may require more than either one of them has to give. And Ebby may just have to give it all.

Reader Note: A Mermaid's heart contains detailed love scenes and violent mermaids, with a guaranteed HEA with no cliffhangers. Intended for mature audiences.

This is NOT The Little Mermaid and thank goodness for that!! First off, readers really should go out and read The Merman's Kiss and The Merman's Quest before picking up this book. Don't get me wrong, you CAN read it alone, but trust me, you won't enjoy it nearly as much if you don't understand Ebby's family history (the first is her uncle's book, the second her dad's). Also good to note, this is not a Disney story, so if you're looking for everything to be sparkly, your going to be disappointed. This is an adult novella, not meant for under 17 if I were placing it. That being said, I'm not a fan of young adult novels because they're too childish, so it's really quite a positive note. On to the review! I was so excited when I heard Mrs. Ley was writing Ebby's story I can't even describe it. I loved both her father and uncle and was thrilled to get to see this family all get their HEAs. Mrs. Ley sticks more to the older mermaid mythos with her stories, so mermaids tend to be bloodthirsty. Mermen on the other hand, are the nurturers. They are also capable of choosing their own gender when they hit puberty. That being said, Ebby picked female back in Merman's Quest and broke her father's heart, though it's very hard to blame her for it since the females of her species are the powerful ones and she was only trying to protect herself. We open up this story with Ebby as an adult mermaid a few years past her choice, having lost her family a while back, but holding onto the teachings of her father and choosing to be a better 'person' than her species expects. This is a decision that is causing Ebby no small amount of heartache as her 'sister' mermaids torment her endlessly for her kindness. When she finds a school of mermaids engaging in 'fun' with a human male they've absconded with, she makes it her mission to save his life. From there our story emerges. I won't give too many spoilers here (because where's the fun in that?), but there's lots of action, romance, soul searching, psychological growth, and even some absolutely heart bursting reunions. Also, there is a very tiny superhero named Kato. He's awesome. I received an arc copy, but I also bought the book as soon as it released. That should speak for itself.

Romance + mermaids/mermen = a fantastic read... Something I've always looked for, but finally found an adult version! Great plot, and a magical romance. Loved the whole series!
