Very interesting and surprising to see a male character take the lead in a Tamora Pierce book. However, it is a delight and does graceful work shattering the standards of toxic masculinity. Building believable human connections and solidly creating a bond between the reader and the characters is what Tamora does best, and she has not failed us yet. Tempests and Slaughter is a must read and will hopefully do for young men, what Tamora's other books have done for young women. A solid addition to my collection and a good save for later, when I shall read to my children.

really quite enjoyed it. was easily able to create my own visual scenery surrounding the characters. when will the second book come out? will there be one?

After years of not reading, this is one of the first books I've read that reminded me of what a good book could do. Makes me hungry for more.
