'The Dark Tower I' (of a seven book series) was 1st published in June 1986. The last book, 'The Dark Tower VII', was published in September 2004. Don't be misled into thinking this is the newest book in a series published by Stephen King. If you want to know when his or any other book being sold by the Play Store was published, I advise you to "Google" the title and author for up-to-date facts. Being I'm 67 y.o., I recognize a multitude of the titles being sold as being from when I was in my teens to 40. This is relevant when it comes to the self-help books because the information contained within those pages are pertinent to the problems of those eras that too often no longer exist and are out of date. So check the publication dates for the more recent books, especially those that reference mental/health care advice. Also, history, since new information comes out quite often that challenges and/or changes historical dates and facts. For me, personally, I like all my books to be recent. But that's just me.

I just couldn't get into this book. None of the characters are likeable/relatable and the story itself just didn't draw me in. I had to force myself to open it up and read, and I've finally just given up on it.

This books was necessary to tie The Gunslinger to the rest of the series and to humanize the protagonist. Though the book serves a purpose it ties the series together and makes you fall for the main character and his katet. The Dark Tower series and connected universe, if you're like me, will become an obsession, moral compass, and a disconnect you wish you could make reality. Read all books in about two months and I will read it many more times. Best book series I've ever read, hands down.
