Ratings and reviews

I really didn't like this at first, the intro is hard to read especially after getting accustomed to The Talisman. Once you get it past that though, it becomes great. The only real problem is the Dark Tower connections and just how different the feel is to The Talisman. I think it suits the idea of childhood and adulthood being very different realms though. The writing style is quite great too but the intro could've used it better. It's also somewhat seminal since it clearly influenced the Dark Tower's intertextuality. Go in this with the mindset of "Dark Tower Spinoff" and I think you'll have a grand old time. I can't wait for Jack Sawyer 3 though I haven't a clue as to how King and Straub will wrap this up.

Great novel. Kept me reading into the night. One thing though. Dale,the police chief gave Jack what he said was service revolver, a Ruger automatic. Revolver's are single or double action, not automatic.

Excellent story and I really loved the writing style of these two authors together. Didn't know it was a sequel so I read the Talisman next, and I am not sure which one I love more. It made me want to start the Dark Tower series, so I am on Book 5 now of that journey. Also liked how Black House ties in with Hearts in Atlantis. All things serve the beam...
