About this ebook

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

Stephanie Garber’s THE BALLAD OF NEVER AFTER is the jaw-dropping sequel to the ONCE UPON A BROKEN HEART, starring Evangeline Fox and the Prince of Hearts on a new journey of magic, mystery, and heartbreak

Not every love is meant to be.

After Jacks, the Prince of Hearts, betrays her, Evangeline Fox swears she'll never trust him again. Now that she’s discovered her own magic, Evangeline believes she can use it to restore the chance at happily ever after that Jacks stole away.

But when a new terrifying curse is revealed, Evangeline finds herself entering into a tenuous partnership with the Prince of Hearts again. Only this time, the rules have changed. Jacks isn’t the only force Evangeline needs to be wary of. In fact, he might be the only one she can trust, despite her desire to despise him.

Instead of a love spell wreaking havoc on Evangeline’s life, a murderous spell has been cast. To break it, Evangeline and Jacks will have to do battle with old friends, new foes, and a magic that plays with heads and hearts. Evangeline has always trusted her heart, but this time she’s not sure she can. . . .

I dont care if it sounds cliche but jacks and eva should of ended up together. The writing was so weird and confusing to read. A lot of the adj just didnt make sense in the sentence. I feel like i truly wasted my time reading about a naive girl and a cold guy trying to trust each other over the period of 2 WHOLE BOOKS only for Eva to be a victim in both of the stories. Its paints her as weak from the start and she dies just as weak. I wish she would have been more intelligent because nothing more pathetic than a main "heroine" thats dumb as bricks that dies or is manipulated by men until her last breathe or consciousness. Like thats really the endings the author really chose?! At this point, im going back to wattpad because theres more plot logic there than in this series. For people that want to read something good, look elsewhere. Also in the first ending apollo is still in the cage at choas house, hth did he get to Eva in the castle coming out from the arch in the castle?!Illogical.

3 1/2 stars! I listened to the audiobook version from Macmillan audio through NetGalley. The 2nd book starts right off where the 1st leaves off. Recommend reading the first book or you’ll be lost. There are lots of twists and turns in this story & if you love Jacks’ morally gray character, you’ll love him in this. Evangeline was not my favorite character and I didn’t like the way she was married even if in name only yet flirts with every male around. It’s closed door but recommend to older teens

Wow! An emotional rollercoaster of a ride. This book is an interesting YA read about trust, family, and relentless love. It sometimes took me longer to keep at it with me wanting to hammer a few ideas to Evangeline, but it's what it is for a YA book. I cannot wait to see what the next book will be.
