I love...love...love... SK's novels but this is the first one where I was like...whooa..thats a lot going on in this novel. But it could be me...I read really fast and kind of gulp her books down instead of sip like a fine wine. This one did slow me down a bit, just because I was so confused on who the main characters where in the first couple of chapters and then so many otherwordly references. Overall, I am sure it will make more and more sense when she does more stories on the shipmates.

Definitely convoluted; there are two Dark Hunters in the story, elements of Egyptian, Norse, Roman, and Greek mythology, and nine (!) main characters, four of whom dominate the storyline. It doesn't become clear until midway through who the primary female character/love interest is and towards the end there are so many 'villains' of so many backgrounds that I started skimming, it was so confusing. It becomes a bit clearer that Noir and Azura are the primary baddies behind it all, but not until the very end. To make it all the more interesting the primary source appears to be the Knights of Avalon series as opposed to anything from the Dark/Dream Hunter series, yet the characters are culled from those series instead. In other words it may make more sense if you read Time Untime, The Guardian, and the Kinley MacGregor books. Still a good read...
