About this ebook

Democracy requires participation. Voting once every 2 or 4 years is simply not enough to ensure our system of government represents the will of the people. Beyond elections, we must engage directly with the legislative branch at the local, state, and national level if we want lawmakers to address the issues most important to us.

This book will discuss strategies and provide resources for effective engagement with the legislative process, from city councils all the way up to the U.S. Congress. We'll cover practical tactics like calling and writing elected representatives, attending town halls and protests, volunteering for campaigns, and even running for office yourself. The goal is to equip you with knowledge and tools to make your voice heard and influence the lawmakers who represent you.

About the author

As a Steward Council chairperson of my local union I chose to write this book to Inspire others to get involved in their local, state, and federal government. Whether it be the school board, trustee board, Usher board, State Assembly , or even the House of Representatives. It's important that you make yourself available as a civic duty to become a servant of the public at one point in your life in order to learn the process and help affect change.
