I'll admit, I had not read the books (I was too hasty in buying this, and realized too late it was a comic) but what I've read here has perfectly charmed me. The strange, at times brutal, at times wistful land that Elric inhabits is beautifully illustrated, and wonderfully written. Not in a realistic style, but in a manner like a latter day mythology. I'm so affected by it I'm writing awfully snobby. To return to normality, this is a very good comic, and I'm eager for more if it is out there.

The Elric Saga is a great series. End of story. Plus it is badass.
