Malfi is a master at creating creeptastic atmosphere. Some of Black Mouth is reminiscent of Stephen King's It. Like It, Black Mouth is about a group of friends who must destroy an evil that began when they were children. Black Mouth's evil is not a clown but a Magician. When they first meet him, they quickly become enthralled by the tricks he teaches them. As the summer days slip by, the Magician promises greater magic. All the children have to do is kill for him.
