I thought this was going to be just another graphic novel about traveling through the various "multi-verses," or in this case the "ever-verse." But it is so much more. It is like this book is being ironic unintentionally; in other words it has many layers. Just like the onion as Dr. Grant McKay describes for the "ever-verse", this comic has many layers: a saboteur, a love triangle, squabbling kids and parents, a diligent army officer, hubris, and the politics of warfare. While the name of "Black Science" conjures up all Black scientists, it is nothing like that. Enjoy the ride because it is non-stop.

Really enjoyed volume one. The hype was justified.. Feels like a well worn favorite Sci fi Pulp while still being fresh and innovative.

Very good comic, interesting story and story telling. Definitely worth a read, not being perfect, though.
