About this ebook

Raina Telgemeier's #1 New York Times bestselling, Eisner Award-winning graphic memoir based on her childhood!

Raina just wants to be a normal sixth grader. But one night after Girl Scouts she trips and falls, severely injuring her two front teeth. What follows is a long and frustrating journey with on-again, off-again braces, surgery, embarrassing headgear, and even a retainer with fake teeth attached. And on top of all that, there's still more to deal with: a major earthquake, boy confusion, and friends who turn out to be not so friendly.

I'm not gonna lie, this is probably Raina's second-worst book it boring, I hate the bloody scenes, and she wears braces from 6th - 9th grade and it sucks. This is basically somewhat drama but slight better some scenes were good and some I thought were funny.

My daughter ordered this book believing it to be about getting braces which she knew was in her future. The week before it arrived she knocked out 3 of her front teeth playing on the playground after school. When she finally got the book all of us were astounded at the similarities between her situation and that of the main character. Needless to say, she has read it numerous times since.

🌺I loved this book, I'm also 12 myself and i know what it's like to not want braces. The braces hurts my mouth when i close it, and it's so annoying. But OOF knocking out teeth has to hurt. Also i like how she stood up to herself to Karen and Natalie. That was brave🌺
