Oh, Annie and Tyler. Already my heart aches so badly for each of you. I have been so eager to enjoy this couple's story after meeting them in this author's Wicked series. While these character were introduced in that series, you do not need to worry if you haven't read it. This series stands on its own beautifully. I loved this book so much. To start it is well written and paced. The story and the characters very easily capture your interest and heart. The engaging storyline will quickly captivate you and have you fully invested with its compelling blend of intense emotions, drama, angst, what seems like constantly increasing tension, sweetness, simmering chemistry, poignancy, heartache, and some big questions that will have you desperate for answers and yet scared of what the answers might be. The three things that made the biggest impression on me were: 1. At first look, you are inclined to think that Tyler and Annie are polar opposites of each other. However, once you get to know them and get a much clearer picture, you truly begin to realize the similarities that they share and you are given cause to wonder whether those similarities will be their ruination or their ultimate saving grace, 2. The Little Mermaid. This fairy tale plays a major role in this part of this couple's story and I thought that it was terribly clever how Annie's own feelings and story seemed to mimic that of that of Ariel's and 3. Love & Family. These are dual-edged swords that can be a blessing, a curse or even both at the same time and this book gives us a taste of that and heavily foreshadows that there is plenty more to come on that front in future books in this series. Just in case you are not aware, this YA/NA read does end on a cliffhanger as this is only the first of the three books in the trilogy. So be prepared for a cliffhanger. In my opinion book two cannot release soon enough!!

AHHHH! AHHHH! First, that ending!! Dead. Piper takes you on a slow burn, angsty, they will/they won’t ride…and then she totally leaves you hanging jaw open, CRAVING more! I’m not mad one bit about it though because she made the tortuous journey one to truly jones for! LOL! Annie and Tyler’s story is one of a sweet innocent friendship that evolves into something deeper. Though even as younger teens their connection was meaningful. They understood each other’s insecurities and pain. Then poof…Tyler seems to disappear and it leaves Annie hurt and missing her closest friend during a tumultuous time of fitting into her new life. But then he’s back! And he’s living in her guest house and working closely with her rock star dad, trying to make it in his passion for music—something she wishes she could do. Their reintroduction is tentative but they appear to be on their way to friendship once again, until Tyler becomes—and seemingly embraces—his role of the new hot prince at their elite high school. Annie once again feels betrayed as they both try to push each other away. Their circle is small and while Annie is trying to grow into herself and find her own musical dreams, they can’t avoid each other any longer. Old feelings flare and they both teeter on the edge of controlling their true desires. Oh man the tension is strong in this story! It is total new adult crack and the secrets simmering below the surface make it all the more tantalizing! It absolutely does end in a doozy of a cliffy but it’s so worth it! Great story, great characters, can’t wait for more!! 5 stars for A Love Song for Liars!!!

Youthful Angst And Young Love Good reading that gets into the goings-on of late high school to early colleagues and all the myriad emotions these youth face for the first time in their lives. Both the main male and main female characters have familial issues they are trying to work through, as well as high school academics, all sorts of extra-curricular activities and right in the throes of first love. Oh my ... All these scenarios are well presented and delved into by Ms. Lawson. I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel from the author and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.
