About this ebook

"My love, speak to me. Tell me everything." Neferet went to Kalona, kneeling before him, stroking the soft, dark wings that unfurled loosely around the immortal.

"What would you have me say?" He didn't meet her eyes.

"Zoey lives." Neferet's voice was flat, cold, lifeless.

"She does."

"Then you owe me the subservience of your immortal soul." She started to walk away from him.

"Where are you going? What will happen next?"

"It is quite simple. I will ensure Zoey is drawn back to Oklahoma. There, on my own terms, I will complete the task you failed."

Exonerated by the Vampyre High Council and returned to her position of High Priestess at Tulsa's House of Night, Neferet has sworn vengeance on Zoey. Dominion over Kalona is only one of the weapons she plans to use against Z. But Zoey has found sanctuary on the Isle of Skye and is being groomed by Queen Sgiach to take over for her there. Being Queen would be cool, wouldn't it? Why should she return to Tulsa? After losing her human consort, Heath, she will never be the same – and her relationship with her super-hot-warrior, Stark, may never be the same either...

And what about Stevie Rae and Rephaim? The Raven Mocker refuses to be used against Stevie Rae, but what choice does he have when no one in the entire world, including Zoey, would be okay with their relationship? Does he betray his father or his heart?

In the pulse-pounding 8th book in the bestselling House of Night series, how far will the bonds of friendship stretch and how strong are the ties that bind one girl's heart?

The theme of this book is that looks can be deceiving. Once again Nerfert has tricked the vampires of the House of Night, even when Nyx clearly stated that she was not forgiven yet. She said she made a mistake and begged for the school and Zoey's forgiveness, she even cried. Soon the whole school took her back, when Zoey and her friends clearly see it is all an act of hers. An other example of the theme is Rephaim. They all thought he was a killing beast, which he proved them wrong when he protected Stevie Rae. I think the authors did well in describing the scenery and the things happening throughout the story. They always describe the story and the thoughts of the characters in depth. What I did not like about the book is that when the story switches characters, it like doubles back in the story, which can get confusing. When it doubles back you either get a repeat of what happened through an other character's eyes or you get cut off from the part you just read. Like when Stevie Rae gave Rephaim the look of go away, and made him leave the school grounds. Chapters later you see how it felt for Rephaim. I would recommend this series of books because these are a new type of vampire, unlike Dracula and Twilight. Even though the book does not state it, the vampires are mostly like Wiccans. Which hasn't really been done a lot in vampire books.

I just finished reading Awakened, A House of Night Novel that follows fledgling High Priestess, Zoey Redbird, after her soul was shattered. Zoey must find the strength to return to her home in Tulsa with her Warrior and Consort, Stark to intervene in the evil lurking caused by Neferet and Kalona. It is my belief that P.C. and Kristin Cast carried out our expectations well in this latest novel, which keeps you hanging on for more. They use a witty writing style that captures the essence of youth and thus is appealing which enables them to get their point across to a wide variety of audiences. Generally, this book is written for young adults and teenagers. That being said, I’m in my thirties and continue to faithfully follow the series. I really love the idea behind the HON series. From the first book that I read, I was hooked. It’s my opinion that the book uses quite a few clichés repeatedly, which may actually be part of the draw to the series. For me, it actually became just a little too droning. It would be my recommendation to continue usage of these clever clichés, but to exercise a little repetition. Of course, this is only my opinion. The HON series is original and different, which makes them stand out. Even though Awakened was not my favorite of the series, I still had a hard time putting this book down once I got started. P.C. and Kristin are genius writers and mega superstars due to their successful imaginations. I “heart” them and the HON series!
