As someone who has an entire library of light novels, I can say with relative certainty that this will be one of the zaniest stories you have read. This review spans the first nine books, not just book 1. With the first few books, there are two main time lines going on, but after that reaches its peak, then you have just the main time line. Fortunately book four (I think) has a time line to help. The weirdness is not just from being a spider (after all I also read Her Majesty's Swarm) but rather the twists that occur. Don't try to Google or anything about the series since the surprises do actually work out well (even the one at the end of the 9th book traces back to book 1). It is definitely confusing to follow, which knocks off a point, but the pieces do slowly fall into place. In the end, I only suggest starting if you want to continue with it. The pacing can be rather off at times, but the characters are memorable, and the craziness can actually make sense (at least sometimes).

The setting is the regular "other world fantasy" so it's hardly unique, it does include some additional worries because of the nature of the protagonist, which is very likeable and is working hard to survive. Probably what I like the most is that there are some narrative threads (pun intended) that seem to be set way in advance, I can believe that the story had been carefully outlined and probably polished from the original web novel.

Absolutely phenomenal. Probably one of the best in the Isekai genre. Tired of OP protags? Our hero here constantly has the odds stacked against her, no matter how strong she gets. The no shortage of action and twists. 10/10, would read over and over again! Check out the anime too, it's pretty neat, but best watched alongside reading the LN, as it skips some things.
