About this ebook

“I’m a simple village girl who has always obeyed the orders of my father and brothers. Since forever, I have learned to say yes to everything. Today I have decided to say no.”

Nujood Ali's childhood came to an abrupt end in 2008 when her father arranged for her to be married to a man three times her age. With harrowing directness, Nujood tells of abuse at her husband's hands and of her daring escape. With the help of local advocates and the press, Nujood obtained her freedom—an extraordinary achievement in Yemen, where almost half of all girls are married under the legal age. Nujood's courageous defiance of both Yemeni customs and her own family has inspired other young girls in the Middle East to challenge their marriages.

Hers is an unforgettable story of tragedy, triumph, and courage.

I felt so sorry for Nujood and other girls. That was my first book I've read in English. At least the minimum age has changed in Yemen thanks to Nujood and her lawyer. Great book to read, such eye opener.

Nujood was and is very brave. Many people don't understand how trauma- tized child brides are.The sexual slave trade enriches a father's pockets pro- viding young daughters as brides and young sons to pedophiles. Nujood's insisting on seeing a judge probably saved her life. Sex shouldn't occur till a girl starts menstruating. Little girls and boys forced to have sex can end up dying from internal bleeding. Teens or preteens having a baby increases death rates for the girls and infants. This is a must read

I absolutely loved this book. It was a quick read, once I picked it up I couldn't put it down I read it in 2 sessions and will end up reading it again it. It's one book I will not be selling back. It tells you about all of the bad stuff that happens to this young helpless child who decides that if no one in her family will help her she will get help on her own. She is a very determined young girl. Anyone who is abused like she was and can stand up and gets help deserves to have a book written about him or her, She is amazing; she defiantly is a heroin.
