About the author

Norman Friedman is arguably America’s most prominent naval analyst, and the author of more than thirty books covering a range of naval subjects, from warship histories to contemporary defense issues. Since the 1980s, Friedman has been contributing regular columns analyzing world naval developments for Proceedings magazine. He earned his PhD in physics at Columbia University.
