The movie was the first "scary movie" I watched as a kid I'll admit it freaked me out at that time but it did scare me into being good...for a bit ;)

When I was a child, I watched 'Coraline' in theaters. I vividly remember the commercials and everytime they would come on I would get excited. Being a kid, 'Coraline' was a first "horror" movie for me. I grew up and realized the movie was based on a book. For years I kept meaning to buy and read it. Well, I finally did it. The book was great. I was a bit saddened that Wybie wasn't a character in the book, but I realize that he was made for the movie. it's definitely different when you realize that Coraline is the only child at the house, and other Wybie isn't there to help save her. I bought this edition so I could read what it was like for the author to write it. I'm so glad that his kids helped him finish it. A lot of people wouldn't have this fantastic tale with out them. I will most likely be reading more books like 'Coraline'.

At twenty years old, I have just now been given the opportunity to read the book that my favorite childhood movie was based upon. I loved every second of it. It was thrilling and filled with fright, reflecting the insecurities of young children and adults alike. After all, no one truly likes to be alone. Coraline is a brave little girl and one we can all take notes from. Just because you are scared, that does not mean that you are not brave. We should all remember that.
