This book forgot it's original story for me. The lack of the two main characters through out most of the book, made for a distinct lack of interest in the plot of the book. The author's decision to only let less than 50000 of earth population travel to stars is unbelievable . The final solution to the world's overpopulation is not enough to prevent the eventual demise of human society on earth.final observation is that a AI as sophisticated as it is could blame all of humanity for one man acts of violence.

The Arc of a Scythe series gave me so much insight on the complications of human nature and humanity's relationship with our ever-evolving technology. I still have so many questions and would have loved to read beyond the ending of The Toll, but those last few chapters were quite satisfying and bittersweet. I look forward to reading more of Mr Shusterman's work and I applaud him for all he has given to convert brilliant ideas into impactful stories.

amazing. draws you in and shows so much of the important happenings of the world. the lack of the main characters is refreshing and was not even once thought about by me because of how well it kept me drawn in.
