Born into poverty in a one-room cabin in Southwest Virginia, Hill went from being a newspaper reporter to working as an advisor to President Woodrow Wilson during World War I. His close association with steel magnate Andrew Carnegie led to the creation of his 'Law of Success' philosophy which became the bedrock of his subsequent writings. Hill's work insisted on the power of personal beliefs and the role they play in personal success. 'What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve' is one of Hill's hallmark expressions.
