About this ebook

Created by the father and son team of Weston Cage and acclaimed actor Nicolas Cage (Ghost Rider; The Rock; National Treasure) and written by Mike Carey (Untouchable, Lucifer, Unwritten) with artwork by Dean Hyrapiet (Buddha, Virulents, Dead Soldier).

Shadows can cloak the mysteries of the past, the deeds tat should be forgotten, and the mistakes that are not meant to be ignored. But some shadows cannot be held in the darkness for long, for some have a story to tell¡

Gabriel Moore is no ordinary child. He's not really living... but he's not really dead, either. In 1860, the plantation of union sympathizer Mason Moore is burned to the ground by secessionists. In the battle, Moore's illegitimate son is killed, but as he gasps his last breaths, a voodoo bokor casts a spell on him. The bokor cannot save Gabriel from death entirely, but puts the boys spirit in limbo where he must wait until someone can summon him.

Centuries later, Gabriel re-emerges, but he¡¯s no longer a mere boy ¨C he¡¯s a Voodoo Child. And he¡¯s got some unfinished business to attend to¡

"The art gives it a dark, scary gloss that sticks out as a nice change from the flood of zombie and vampire tales that make up most of the horror genre." - Variety

"Nicolas Cage loves comic books so much, he created one of his own." - USA Today

"Each book is filled with great dialogue and excellent storytelling." - Geeks of Doom

"This is storytelling that draws you in with ghouls that are involving to watch and gets under your skin with monstrosities that aren't so easily escaped. (4.5 out of 5 stars)" - Comic Critique

"It's got an anti-hero who doesn't mind getting a bit bloody while trying to avenge his family. (Mike) Carey is starting to climb my chart of competent writers, and I fully expect more reading from this title. (4.5 out of 5 Stars)" - Comics Bulletin
