smartly written, seemingly well-thought-out, and lacking any of the contrived technobabble that so much science-fiction suffers from. character development is a bit shallow, as is dialog, but it more then makes up for that with a speed of development that keeps you entertained

Ok. It is a space opera. Nothing heavy. An easy read and entertaining. It moves the plot along without deepening the characters. Having the heroine father find her then die sounds like he may not be dead or the writer disposed of an inconvenient character. I will read more in the series since it is entertaining enough for idle pleasant escapist reading.

Good, good, good. Like the first in the series it's well written, the characters are good and it's very imaginative. No aspects I didn't enjoy. Highly recommended.
