About this ebook

Take a tour of Buffalo, NY's mobster and mafia history. Local mob expert reveals gangsters' stories, hangouts and more.

Buffalo has housed its fair share of thugs and mobsters. Besides common criminals and bank robbers, a powerful crime family headed by local boss Stefano Magaddino emerged in the 1920s. Close to Canada, Niagara Falls and Buffalo were perfect avenues through which to transport booze, and Magaddino and his Mafiosi maintained a stranglehold on the city until his death in 1974. Local mob expert Michael Rizzo takes a tour of Buffalo's mafia exploits everything from these brutal gangsters' favorite hangouts to secret underground tunnels to murder.

Mention is made in this book and one other book of my biological grandfather who was gunned down in Buffalo, NY. I recently found him through DNA testing and am trying to paint a picture in my mind of his life. The book is extremely interesting and informative; a walk on the wildside of my hometown. I am familiar with many locations in the Buffalo area. Also lived in Cheektowaga and West Seneca. My mother was no doubt this man's child and adopted out in 1923. Our search for her family has been most frustrating. Now that he has been found, I will search for my mother's birth mother without a name or any clue.

I am a native of Buffalo and also infatuated with history and learning about the Italian-American Mafia especially. You really never hear about the Buffalo mob AKA "The Arm" even though it was one of the strongest crime families in the country other than Chicago and the five New York families. A great read for mafia boss and buffalo natives I highly recommend!!!!!!!
